Adele plans to take a break from music after her Las Vegas residency ends.
The singer, who has played to 15,000 people at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, has announced she’s taking a break from performing for “the next few months.”
Per the Huffington Post, she said she will be taking time off to spend time with her two young sons.
“I’ve been a little distracted the last little while,” she announced in a statement. “I look forward to being with my family and friends during this time of the year. I’m so thankful for this time I have taken to be with my family and look forward to sharing more with them in the future.”
She will also take a brief hiatus from writing songs.
“I have a handful of exciting projects in the works and a lot of new ones I just haven’t quite worked out when I’m away from home or my boys,” she added.
Per The New York Post, she said she will resume writing and releasing new music later this year, after a hiatus of six years.
“I love every second of it and this time away from the studio has given me a chance to spend more time with my family and friends,” she said. “I feel so lucky to be able to share our lives with the people we love the most in this world.”
It has been a rocky ride for Adele, who broke up with boyfriend Justin Timberlake in late 2011 after just a year together. She has since had a number of relationships, including with The Weeknd and her husband Simon Konecki, for whom she has twins in a baby shower in May 2013.
She has made several attempts to get her career back on track but failed with her Las Vegas residency.
With her hiatus from music, it’s now possible that she could release a new album in the next few months.
