Will & Grace star Leslie Jordan, known for playing a lesbian couple on the sitcom and his role on The Golden Girls, died Wednesday morning after an apparent car accident in Hollywood. He was 67.

Jordan passed away from his injuries at a hospital in Los Angeles and was buried with his partner and close friend, Joan Rivers, according to publicist Karen Lamm.

Jordan, who first came to fame on Broadway in the 1967 hit play The Glass Menagerie, met Rivers while starring on The Golden Girls.

Jordan first played a gay character on Will & Grace on March 15, 2010 and the characters were added to the show shortly after.

Jordan’s character, Frank Jr., was revealed to be a lesbian in the episode “Grace.” The gay characters featured on Will & Grace have included Frank’s gay neighbor in “Frank TV,” Grace’s gay high school boyfriend in ‘Grace Under Pressure,’ and Jack in “The One After the Kill.”

Rivers had previously been married to actor and writer Billy Crystal. She and Crystal, who she married in 2013, had two children: daughter Islan and son Moses.
